Willy Jackson’s Biography 3-20-2017

I started at Raley’s 305 on November 10th 2001, as a 17 teen years old High school senior for the holiday season as a temporary courtesy clerk.  I have worked as a courtesy clerk, utility clerk, night crew clerk, deli clerk, natural foods clerk, produce clerk, receiving lead, dairy lead and Customer service team lead. I worked at Raley’s 305 for nearly 14 years until the store closure. I worked at Raley’s 306 until an ATL position came up for the new Food Source 712 at the old Raley’s 305 location. It was exciting and nerve wracking to switch banners and open the first Food Source in San Joaquin County. It was the right decision for my career and yet, it helped me to grow and work on my leadership qualities as well as helped me develop my leadership style.

Working in the industry for nearly 16 years has changed my life. I get to meet and serve people from all walks of life. I feel that being in a leadership position, we are coaches. Being a coach, you have to be aware that coaching isn’t a one size fits all deal. You have to be willing to be flexible and make decisions instantly, under pressure. I feel I have the temperament and sense of calm to be a successful servant leader.

I’m a married father of two sports fanatic boys, aged 6 & 8. Me and my wife have been together for nearly a decade. Family time means a lot to me. My sons are my best friends, and my ultimate goal is to be a role model and leader to them. My best friends are like my brothers and most of them I’ve met through Raley’s in some way or through friends of friends. My family goals are to pay off my mortgage by the time I am 45 years old and send my sons off to a four-year university. I would like to have enough funds in my 401k so that my wife and I can have the best chance at actual retirement later in life.

My career goals are to keep working with the same positive energy, enthusiasm and passion to brighten up people’s lives, working my way up to be a Store Team Leader and getting educated to help understand the complexities of the grocery industry.

The “Vision” isn’t just words on a poster to me. They signify a lifestyle to commit to being a better person.  Mind, body and spirit. Healthy isn’t being an ideal weight or personal level of fitness. Health is more than physical well being; its being comfortable in our own skin and being yourself. Happiness isn’t just a word. It’s a commitment to being positive and optimistic.  I once had a friend tell me in high school that “There’s no way to happiness…happiness is the way.” That has stuck with me to this day. I feel extremely grateful for being a part of the Raley’s family and the vision to me is living the best most enjoyable life you can live with family and friends.
